Boxing and Brendan saved my life, reveals Sheffield fighter Kid Galahad
Men Of Steel: Kid Galahad and Chris Eubank Jnr at The Magna Centre, February 18, 2012.
SHEFFIELD’S unbeaten new hot prospect Kid Galahad is to tell how boxing and the city’s legendary fight trainer Brendan Ingle saved his life.
He will reveal all when the two appear on Live With Gabby on Channel 5, Thursday, 11.10am to 12.10pm.
It is part of the build up to Galahad’s first professional title fight - to be broadcast live also on Channel 5 - when he takes on Nottingham’s Jason Booth for the WBC International Super Bantamweight title, at the Magna Centre, Rotherham, on Saturday, February 18.
The title has been previously held by great fighters like Manny Pacquiao and Naseem Hamed - who Brendan also trained in Sheffield.
TV presenter Gabby Logan will talk to them about the upcoming Hennessy Sports show and how Brendan and boxing saved Kid’s life, confirmed a spokesman.
Brighton middleweight sensation Chris Eubank Jr, son of former world champion Chris Eubank, is the other big name on the show - he faces Doncaster’s Jason Ball.
Barnsley’s Lee Noble will take on Phill Fury, from Lancaster, for the 10-round Central Area Middleweight Title.
Sheffield’s Lightweight Leo D’Erlanger, Doncaster’s Jason Cunningham, Rotherham cruiserweight Karl Bell and heavyweight Kash Ali are also on the undercard.
British Light Welterweight champion Lenny Daws, of Morden, will be fighting Chris Truman from Birmingham.
“Live With Gabby is a sparkling mix of celebrity interviews, essential advice, real life stories and lively, light-hearted discussion,” said a Channel 5 spokesman.
“Galahad and Eubank Jr will be looking to impress millions of fight fans and lead the way as the new generation of boxing stars when they both appear on the Men of Steel event.”
Promoter Mick Hennessy added: “I’m really proud to be showcasing these two brilliant young talents together on Channel 5. With Kid Galahad headlining for the prestigious WBC International title in only his 11th fight, I believe he will show the boxing world why we have so much faith in him.
“There is great anticipation for Chris Eubank Jr’s second pro fight and rightfully so, he’s a special and unique talent who brings a real buzz to this great sport.”
