SHEFFIELD Steelers face a struggle to make the semi final of the Challenge Cup.

Mike Wirrl put the home side ahead just before the first interval, before Jeff Legue and Jason Hewitt gave Sheffield the control of the middle period.

But Wirrl escaped his marker to level at 49;38.

And at 51.58 Dundee’s Bill Bagron put them ahead again.

And it was 4-2 when Doug Kranz scored late on the Power Play to underline a miserable evening for Sheffield.

The teams meet again in the second leg of the quarter final, next Wednesday.
