Loan striker faces fight for place

WILL Hoskins has been warned that Sheffield United’s wealth of attacking options means he can not take first-team football for granted at Bramall Lane.

Instead, speaking ahead of this weekend’s crucial League One encounter with Wycombe Wanderers, manager Danny Wilson revealed the on-loan striker must fight tooth and nail with Ched Evans, Richard Cresswell and Chris Porter for the right to start.

“Nobody here is guaranteed a place in the team,” Wilson said. “That’s not the way it works, and Will, who is a good professional, accepts that.

“We are sure he’s going to be a tremendous asset for this team but that doesn’t mean he is going to get any favours.

“He’ll have to work hard in the week and then perform during the games themselves to do that.”

Nevertheless, despite those words of caution, it seems inconceivable that Hoskins will not enjoy a prominent role against Gary Waddock’s side on Saturday afternoon.

The 25-year-old former Rotherham |United star, who completed a transfer- deadline-day move from Brighton and Hove Albion, is scheduled to spend the rest of the season in South Yorkshire.

With fellow centre-forward James Beattie scheduled to return from suspension when fourth-placed United host Preston North End later this month, Wilson said: “There’s good competition for places up front now.

“Hopefully that brings out the best in everybody. I’m sure it will. They’ll drive each other on.”

The new loanee faces fight for place? Is this the same team that's not scored in two games (the last one against a reserve team) I'd throw him straight in if I was Sgt. Wilson. Comedy at it's best. UTO

Its people like mandric with their tax avoidance that have cost this country about 70 billion a year .Its people like him and other fat cats that are intent on cutting my benefits , im not greedy like him i just want enough for a few white lightnings a nice bet , loads of junk food from Netto , a few chav outfits for my many kids and their mums and enough juice for my untaxed and tested scrap van..Its enough to make me want a job but i could not stand the shame.

Agree, but you cannot say anything against the blades. They don't like it. Alleged rapist should have been suspended until after the court case. Double standards from the blades as usual. The blades think they are Brazil. In reality they are a bunch of hoofers. 3 passess in a row does not make the blades into Brazil. Soon as the blades lose a few, it will be Wilson out. Why do the blades always need x Wednesday to help them. From their being when they created to now. It's always been c owls who have sorted them out.
