SHEFFIELD United beat Stevenage with Shaun Miller firing in a double salvo.

DANNY Wilson insisted he had no concerns about being cursed after winning League One’s Manager of the Month award for October and so it proved.

United’s afternoon had started on a positive note following confirmation that Dave Kitson will put pen to paper on an extended contract early next week and it got better as the afternoon progressed.

United took a deserved lead in the 19th minute when Doyle, involved in a short corner routine, crossed for COLLINS to emphatically convert by nodding back across Arnold.

Straight from the re-start, Maguire illustrated his growing stature and poise by expertly robbing the tricky Haber of possession.

Then, completely against the run of play, ROBERTS headed home Morais’ 45th minute corner.

Diagonal balls had caused Stevenage problems all afternoon and, in the 55th minute, this weakness was again exposed when MILLER bundled home.

Blackman spotted Flynn lurking across the pitch and arced over a pin-point pass which his fellow winger returned back into the box. An onrushing Porter was injured in the ensuing melee but Arnold was unable to prevent the former Crewe Alexandra attacker from scoring.

He did, however expertly tip a rising, angled effort from Blackman over the bar just before Freeman replaced Tansey for the visitors.

MILLER, in the 70th minute, was clinical. Again, the threat came from out wide with the centre-forward poking home at the near post after Roberts had dithered when Flynn and Porter combined.

United were rewarded for producing their most accomplished performance in recent weeks when PORTER converted another Flynn cross three minutes from time.
