Sheffield Wednesday: Owls set to make Corry decision
RELEGATION-haunted Sheffield Wednesday are poised to make a decision on midfielder Paul Corry’s short-term future.
The 22-year-old’s one-month loan spell at Tranmere Rovers came to an end following their heavy defeat to MK Dons last weekend.
Brought in to provide cover for injured Rovers captain James Wallace, Corry has featured six times at Prenton Park, making five starts. It is not yet known whether Rovers are interested in retaining the Dubliner’s services for the remainder of the campaign.
Since his summer move from Irish side University College Dublin, Corry has been limited to just eight first-team appearances in Wednesday colours. The Star understands the Owls would allow Corry to stay with Tranmere, as long as Giles Coke quickly regains full fitness. Central midfielder Coke sustained a foot problem in their controversial loss at Watford and has missed the club’s last two outings. Jones is confident he will be fit to play in the crunch Easter Saturday showdown with Barnsley after the two-week international break.
“We will wait to see what happens with Giles (Coke) before we make a decision on Paul (Corry),” Jones told The Star. “We hope to have Giles back after the international break but I will know that this week.”
David Prutton collected his 14th caution of the season against Cardiff. The experienced midfielder is just one yellow card away from an automatic three-match ban.
Jones added: “David (Prutton) and Giles have been absolutely brilliant since coming into the team.”
