The moment of madness

Flashpoint: Confrontation between Reda Johnson and MK Dons boss Karl Robinson, who is alleged to have put his hands around the Owls stars throat near the end of the 1-1 draw PICTURES: COLIN BRIDGES

this is the moment when Sheffield Wednesday defender Reda Johnson ended up on the floor after being confronted by MK Dons manager Karl Robinson.

The flashpoint occurred in the second half at stadiummk when Johnson tried to retrieve the ball to take a quick throw in during the 1-1 draw in Buckinghamshire.

Robinson, who has already been fined and warned as to his future conduct by the FA after being sent off against Colchester on January 2, approached Johnson, then appeared to put his hands to his throat and push him to the ground.

The referee sent Robinson to the stands for the remainder of the match, which could see the Dons boss face another fine and a lengthy ban from the dug out if charged and found guilty by the FA.

Robinson also infuriated Wednesday’s travelling fans by gesticulating towards them at the final whistle as if to insinuate that Johnson had taken a dive. It is the second time this season that there has been bad blood between the clubs after a spicy encounter at Hillsborough in September saw the Owls end MK’s unbeaten start to the campaign.

However, Dons assistant manager John Gorman, who attended the post-match press conference in place of Robinson, said: “It was a big fuss about nothing. The guy fell over and Karl tried to help him up. The film will show what happened.”

Now that you've all had chance to watch the match replay you may be interested to know that the FA, having watched the video evidence have rescinded Karl Robinson's red card, thereby laying the blame with Redo Johnson for trying to throttle Stephen Gleeson.

Can just imagine what the Blades fans would have said if Megson had done same thing to a MK Dons player,it would have been crime of the century.

#12 and #18 Calm down and take the banter. Don't get yourself all upset about it. There are plenty of Wendies who post stupid comments on the Blades pages. Robinson didn’t ‘push’ Johnson because he didn’t want him to take a quick throw. Robinson was actually protecting his own player. Johnson was the instigator and pushed the MK lad in the throat (watch the video). This is what Robinson's reacting to. Johnson started it and then threw himself on the floor (if you're pushed don’t you usually fall backwards?!). all players do it, its not just him. But its just embarrassing. and its even embarrassing when Wendies come on defending RJ making out like he was attacked by the playground bully.

Reda tried to get the ball for a quick throw in as given by the linesman. The MK player wouldn't release the ball. Reda got hold of the player concerned and then released them. Robinson then shoved Reda over quite unnecessarily. The ref overruled the Linesman and sent off Robinson and was quite correct on both counts. MK Dons are weak and will not get promoted. Name any team in England whose players do not make the most of any perceived infringement by an opponent.

D*ckhead #13, Banter is defined as "The playful and friendly exchange of teasing remarks". What I cant get over is the mentality of pig fans, who for as long as I have known go out of their way to be in the company of Wednesdayites just for the sake of saying stupid things to them. A bit like little children turning up at a party uninvited only to act the tw*t. What sad lives you live.

Is this incident even worth a mention, let alone a full Star article? Is this the best we have to discuss?? Some immature shoving and pushing by spolit kids in the technical area? I appreciate the match was the most boring dull draw in living memory but to highlight this pathetic incident is beyond belief

Makes one think of the late William Shakespears "Much Ado About Nothing"

As an MK Dons fan I find some of these comments quite hilarious. Firstly, it was our throw in as the ref had signalled who has the final say. Your player has his hands raised to Gleeson. This is evident in this screenshot from BBC http:i1205.photobucket.comalbumsbb425dpowell27handsonrobbo.png or it is also visible on the video itself at 1:15. That is a red card punishment and 3 game minimum ban for raising hands. Granted Robinson pushes him away, however in protection of his own player who had his neck grabbed and to get the ball back as it was our throw in. Also the movement of your player was so slow, it was obvious the contact was weak and minimal and he was trying to get Robinson punished

# fickle pig, Do you give the same advice to your ginger pig Quinn? He fell over so often against us at the sty that we feared for his life. The most embarrasing thing about that episode was that the ref kept buying it yet you lot had a go at him for not giving you a free kick when your goalie wanted a foul each time we scored! Footballers & managers often get what they want by overreacting. This manager does & Reda Johnson addressed the balance. I understand why a pig fan would not want us to take a quick throw in & I understand why their manager wanted to do the same. Fans who know a bit more about what went off would also understand why Reda wanted to put a stop to Karl Robinson's presence on the touchline, it was well overdue. I don't understand though why you would wish to make such a stupid comment on another clubs site. UTFO!

Although Robinson shouldn’t be touching or 'pushing' anyone, Johnson went to the floor like a sack of spuds. It was embarrassing. I've heard of taking a dive in the penalty area, but in the tactical area?! Come on Johnson man up you fairy. Pathetic.

I believe Dave Gorman's version, " I saw everything through the lens of my videocam. Karl just helped the young gentleman up by the throat, much like a mother cat would gently lift her kitten, while smiling angelically & without using any threatening language, as you will see in my film when it appears on telly & I get my £250 cheque".

How convenient, where`s the picture with Johnsons hand on the MK mans throat. If it`s good for one it`s good for both, isn`t it ?
