United boss is braced for battle

SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson has told his squad ‘You ain’t done nothing yet’ despite their climb to second in the League One table.

United jumped into the automatic promotion positions when they beat fellow Championship contenders Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium on Tuesday.

That result saw them move two points ahead of third-placed Sheffield Wednesday despite having played two games less than Gary Megson’s side but Wilson warned: “We’ve not done anything yet. How can we go shouting our mouths off because of that?

“We can be very proud of what we are doing but there are still lots of very big tests ahead. Believe you and me, this division is no cake-walk.”

Wilson, who yesterday confirmed midfielder David McAllister has extended his loan at Shrewsbury Town, predicted United will face one such test when they entertain Preston North End tomorrow.

“If there’s one word I’d use to describe Preston it would be under-estimated,” he said. “They might be mid-table but they’re not so far off (the top six) that they won’t believe they can’t qualify for the play-offs.

“There’s always one team that goes on a late run and they could be dark horses in that respect. Like ourselves, Preston were in the Championship last season so we know they’ve got quality.”

United triumphed 4-2 at Deepdale earlier this term and Wilson, who welcomes striker James Beattie back from suspension, said: “We put in an excellent performance that day and we’ll be striving to reach those heights again.

“But nobody here is taking anything for granted because we know we don’t have a divine right to be anywhere or do anything.

“That’s why, even if it sounds boring, we’ll just focus on the next game.”

Owls to get nowt from next 2 derby games. Dreading both of em. We will fade away and Blades will be laughing loudly as per usual. The futures bleak now and play offs is all we can hope for.

Yeah i got done by Sailsbury as well as Yeovil and Bury at home! Id rather us score a 4th and fail than the other team nicking a consolation. Its no consolation to me! Only time its come in away this year was Bury, be nice if it came in again at Swillbro! UTB

Not been to Preston no Cat. Why? Do they not have WMC's there? lol. I used to work in Queens Rd Social Club though and we used to get a lot of away fans coming in. I always remember when we played Sunderland in the play-offs semi finals (think we won 2-1 but lost up there 0-2) we walked into the club at 11.30 and the bar was 5 deep with Sunderland fans waiting to be served. Friendly bunch though, had some good banter with them. I think Dean Saunders scored that day in fact?? I shall be drinking in The Sortsman on Denby St and The Sheaf on Bramall Lane tomoz. Have seen the odd away fans in there but not sure if they're all that safe for away fans

I always go for 3-0 home or away as you know Manor, had it 6 time up to now this season! I had it for Hudders (50-1) and started to dream after 6 or 7 mins but the win was more than worth it! UTB

Swillsborough is a right dump

Nearly ALL the pubs on London Road, with the exception of The Cremorne have doormen on matchdays and dont allow away fans.
