Seyi Olofinjana has paid tribute to new Sheffield Wednesday teammate Glenn Loovens ahead of their trip to out-of-sorts Watford.
Experienced centre-back Loovens has shone in the Owls last two outings, having penned a short-term deal with the managerless Championship club last week.
The Dutch player, a free agent after leaving Real Zaragoza in the summer, is expected to partner Roger Johnson again at the heart of Wednesday’s rearguard when they lock horns with 12th-placed Watford, who are on a eight-match winless streak, on Saturday.
“I think Glenn has done well for a player who has not played a lot football,” said Olofinjana.
“He came in against Leicester, who are near the top of the league, and did well and he played very well against Nottingham Forest too.”
Stand-in Wednesday boss Stuart Gray, who is expected to be in charge of the team for the trip at Vicarage Road, opted to give winger Jermaine Johnson a run-out in the Under-21’s 4-2 friendly victory over Rotherham United yesterday. Freddie Tracey (2), Ayo Obileye and Andelko Savic all registered.
