Simonsen the saviour
Steve Simonsen
DANNY Wilson, the Sheffield United manager, paid tribute to goalkeeper Steve Simonsen following last night’s victory at Huddersfield Town.
Simonsen produced several fine saves to deny Lee Clark’s side an equaliser after Neill Collins had scored the only goal in the sixth minute. The result, which lifts United to second in the table, saw Wilson’s men deal a psychological blow to one of their main promotion rivals.
Simonsen, a former England U21 international, came under intense scrutiny earlier this term following a series of high-profile errors but he has restored his reputation with some displays since. “Big game players come to the fore in big games,” Wilson said. “Steve is a big game player and he showed out there why he’s played a Premier League level. He was faultless, he really was. But everyone contributed to that outcome.”
Collins and Harry Maguire were also imperious at the heart of United’s rearguard. “It’s a good win but it doesn’t decide anything,” added Wilson. “There’s still a long way to go and a lot of points to play for so we’ve got to maintain those same high-standards.”
Meanwhile, Wilson has described David Weir as relaxed about his situation at Bramall Lane.
Weir has spent three weeks training with United’s first-team squad. As yet, the veteran defender has not been offered a permanent contract with United although Wilson is keen on utilising his services before the end of the season.
“David is very relaxed about everything,” Wilson said. “We’re happy to have him here and he’s happy to be here. He’s enjoying what he’s doing and you can’t help but be inspired by having him around.”

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 09:05 PMEvening dead fag, its nice to be appreciated by someone with less schooling than me. Maybe we're kindred spirits, perhaps we could ride our stolen trials bikes on a nice bridal path on a nature reserve or meet up when we blob on at the job center unless your smarter than me,( which I think you are, judging by your post) and wrongly claiming disability you jammy sod. Maybe we can get together and have our dogs fight each other, mines a doberman x pitbull, yours is a big fat poodle, but it's still got a chance. Anyway got to go, have to get some special brews in before Rupco shuts.
UTO1s mummy
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 08:22 PMI was of course very upset when my UTO was crying hysterically after the matches last night and i just couldnt console him. BUT as his mummy what has upset me more was the fact that when i went in his room unannounced this evening i caught him looking at a mucky magazine. Nothing wrong with that for a normal 13 year old you would say.BUT im afraid the magazine was in fact one i hadnt heard of before. it was called TIGHT AND WRINKLED, and showed poses of male pensioners dressed in nothing apart from womens tights! Well you can imagine my horror and as punishment he will NOT be allowed to listen to the football on the radio on Saturday whilst wearing his shirt. He can throw a tantrum all he likes. Its not happening you rude filthy little boy!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 07:24 PMWhat makes me laugh the most is the fact that you blunts had a nice cushion before and still fell down the league and you're all getting semi's because you've gone back above us!! Obviously you lot forget that, just like you said you'd never support Sgt. Wilson...... Now you've started singing his name! YOW YOW you amigo typify the blunts brilliantly....... YOU ONLY SING (COME ON) WHEN YOU'RE WINNING. Enough said. UTO

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 05:53 PMWould have thought there are enough sticky fingers on the Board to make good goalies. Just hope that the accounts don't show losses that mean we do a Rangers and get 10 points deducted. Remember we dont have a friendly Co Op bank or Nick Clegg. As for the team --keep up the good work lads --you're as good as any in your league. Don't let us down, but most of all don't let yourselves down. You're playing for your places for next season in the Championship or whatever its name will be next season.
Swillsborough-Dump
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 05:17 PMAnother great win for the Blades which many looked at as being a big test. Nothing to fear from going to Swillsborough now. They are in decline and our tails are up. 10 wins from our last 12 games is certainly promotion form.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 04:12 PMI like Lenny, he gets forward brilliantly and like Mano' says heis big and strong. But he makes mistakes in dangerous areas every home game (not sure about away). Thats OK against most teams in this league but when things turn against you it's those kind of mistakes that cost points, as we found out last season.
