Reigning world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan is set to take part in the Bluebell Wood Open next month.

The Chigwell-born cueman is expected to feature in the Open, a European tour event, which will be staged at the Doncaster Dome from August 14-17. It will be the first tournament where the Dome will host professional events carrying ranking points.

O’Sullivan has not competed in the UK since he triumphed at The Crucible in Sheffield last May.

Sheffield’s leading potters Adam Duffy and Joel Walker face Ryan Day and Li Hang in their opening matches respectively. Crowd favourite Judd Trump starts his bid for the title against Sheffield-based cueman Ding Junhui.

The qualifying rounds of the Shanghai Masters will also be hosted at the Dome from August 7-10. Tickets are priced at £5 per day. For more information, www.the-dome.co.uk or call 01302 370 777
