World number one Neil Robertson has warned Sheffield-based cueman Ding Junhui not to take Peter Ebdon lightly.
Ding, who is targeting the rarely achieved feat of three successive major ranking titles, today faces a rejuvenated Ebdon in the quarter-finals of the International Open in Chengdu, China. Ding delighted his home crowd by thumping Wales’ Matthew Stevens 6-1 yesterday, finishing off with a 110 break.
But Ebdon set up a clash with in-form Ding by producing a heavy-scoring display to knock out Robertson.
“Peter is one of the all-time greats and he gives a pint of blood for every shot,” said Robertson.
“He is a very tough opponent. If Peter plays like he did today, I think he will probably win.
“Ding will have to be very patient and maintain a good temperament.”
