The English Under 23 and Under 20 Championships take place at Bedford tomorrow and Sunday with several South Yorkshire athletes aiming at medals.
At under 23 level Yorkshire and Northern champion Ransford Anthony aims to add the national title in the 100 metres where Ben Shields (City of Sheffield) will be looking for a place in the final.
In the women’s events Calli Thackery (Hallamshire) is listed for the 1500 and 5000 following an outstanding performance last week when she won the longer race by a huge margin and was a close second in the 1500.
Kelly Clark (City of Sheffield), Northern silver medallist, is in the 100 hurdles.
In the under 20 age group Elliot Hurley (City of Sheffield) does the 100 metres after his Northern success and ius also in the long jump whilst Aiden Davies (Doncaster) and Josh Filleul clash in the 400 metres hurdles.
Bertie Houghton (Doncaster) should be well placed in the 3000 metres.
In the field events Adam Hague (Dearne ALC) should add to his impressive list of medals in the pole vault.
Kristie Edwards (City of Sheffield) goes for a sprint double.
Last weekend a clash with the South Yorkshire Schools meant she could only do the 200 at the Northern which she won with ease. Abigail Roberts (Dearne ALC) goes in the pole vault and, like Hague, is likely to finish among the medals.
The third round of the Young Athletes Development League takes place on Sunday with City of Sheffield and Doncaster in North Premier 2 at York and Rotherham, Chesterfield and Hallamshire in North East 1 at Cleckheaton.
Sheffield head their division and Rotherham and Chesterfield are equal on points at the top of their section.
