Tigers have nothing to fear heading to Scunthorpe in their opening League Cup tie of the season tomorrow, says Adam Roynon.

And the former Coventry man says the team are desperate to get out on track after a long winter of takeover talk at Owlerton. It will be the first of two meetings in successive days with the opening home event of the season re-arranged for Monday after Thursday’s washout.

Roynon said: “I can’t wait to get going and I’m sure the rest of the lads feel the same way. We had our private practice last week but then press day was washed out and then Thursday’s individual. So going to Scunthorpe and then back to Owlerton is good for us and I know there’s a bit of rivalry between ourselves and ‘Scunny’.

“I’ve never got on that well with the Scunthorpe track but we have nothing to fear going there and I’m at the stage of my career now where I have to ride every track with the same attitude. There’s no reason why we can’t get a result. The League Cup is a short format so any away points will help you through to the next stage as long as you stay unbeaten at home.”

Monday’s Air Fence Fund Bonanza will feature one change to the original line-up as King’s Lynn star Rory Schlein is already booked for a meeting in Poland.

Sheffield co-owner Peter Mole said: “We made an early decision to cancel on Thursday and naturally we are looking for better weather on Monday. It can’t be helped. Now we will look to do it all again and finally stage our first meeting.”
