Sheffield racer Kyle Howarth hopes his side can keep their momentum going ay Ipswich in the League Cup tonight.

Tigers are already assured of their place in the semi-finals following their 47-43 win over the Witches at Owlerton on Thursday which guaranteed them top spot in the Midland group. They are unbeaten in the Cup and while Howarth knows it will be a tough test, he is desperate to keep that run going ahead of next Thursday’s Premier League opener at home to Rye House.

Howarth said: “Ipswich are a strong team and there’s not much between us at all. That showed on Thursday with how close the meeting was all the way through and credit to our boys for getting the win. We had to really dig deep because of how good Ipswich were and it’s going to be even tougher at their place. Ipswich can be a tough place to go to but we’ve got a great team and there’s no reason why we can’t get something if we’re all on it. We’d love to win the League Cup but the Premier League is what we really want.”

Howarth added: “We’ve got our first meeting in that next Thursday and it would be great if we could go into that one with the confidence behind us still.

“Hopefully it will help us relax at Ipswich knowing that we’re already through to the semi’s and hopefully we can enjoy the night a bit more knowing that there’s no pressure to get a result.

“We just want to go out there, give it everything we’ve got and keep everybody safe for next Thursday.”
