Skipper Simon Stead has revealed his input into Sheffield’s team-building.
He has been in regular contact with co-promoter David Hoggart while the ownership of the club has been under review.
Stead says that the side have a fresh look that will excite supporters and, he hopes, win back fans who stayed away over the last two dismal seasons.
He said: “I’ve been in regular contact with David throughout the winter and from the moment we were given the green light to start team-building, I’ve had some input.
“Obviously I have to focus on my own form and I can’t wait to get back on a bike - after missing half of last season I need to hit the ground running at the top end of the team.
“And with Andre starting at reserve we have some strength in-depth, which is a real bonus. Andre showed glimpses last season of what a class act he can be and I’m sure we will see more from him as the season progresses.
“It’s good for young Josh Bates to join his local club at reserve, I remember what it meant to me to first ride for Sheffield: as a Sheffield lad I was so happy.
“Leigh Lanham has been there and seen it all before and his enthusiasm will be invaluable to the team, I’m certain.
“Taylor Poole is bursting with enthusiasm too: he can’t wait to get started and I reckon all of us feel that way. We can’t wait for the season to start.
“There were other riders I suggested too, but the most important factor is that we are all happy with the way the team has come together.
“Sheffield have great supporters, a great track and stadium and everything is in place for us. Hopefully we can do well and put a smile back on the faces of our supporters.”
