Sheffield Tigers are looking to relaunch their season when they face Glasgow at Owlerton tonight (7.45).
The club have suffered a devastating line of postponements thanks to the weather and bosses are about to embark on a promotional campaign to spread the word.
And co-promoter Peter Mole admits it’s like the season is starting all over again!
He said: “In all my time watching and promoting speedway this is the worst run of rain-offs I have ever known. It’s like someone up there doesn’t want us, as the new management, to succeed here. Now is the time to relaunch our season and there would be no better way than by taking all three points off Glasgow tonight.
“They have riders with a proven pedigree in the Premier League and are sure to be good opposition for us tonight.
“Wolbert, Henry, Harrison and Pijper are all experienced riders at this level and I know they will fancy their chances.
“But we have to focus on ourselves and we have seven riders who are all desperate to race and get some points on the board.”
Mole has fond memories of Glasgow as they were the club he beat with Newport to lift the Knockout Cup.
“That was a special day at Glasgow, the celebrations went on long into the night,” he said. “Leigh Lanham was with me in that team and it was a great achievement for Newport Speedway to win some silverware like that. It’s just tragic that the Newport track has now disappeared.
“I’d love to win things again with Sheffield and I genuinely believe we have the team here who can do something this season, once we get some momentum.”
Tigers are expecting Josh Bates to race despite his nasty crash at Stoke on Saturday when riding for National league Mildenhall.
They’re at full strength with four of the team not racing in any other league.
“They could be a bit rusty,” said Mole.
