Fourth seed Nick Matthew is relishing the prospect of facing Egyptian legend Amr Shabana in the quarter-finals of the World Championship tonight.

The 33-year-old, seeking his third world title, beat Omar Mosaad 11-4 11-7 11-13 11-4 in Manchester yesterday to set up a last eight showdown with four-time world champion Shabana.

The event moves across the city today from the National Squash Centre to the larger Manchester Central venue.

Matthew told The Star he was “slightly disappointed” not to beat Mosaad in straight games but the Sheffielder is excited about playing at Manchester Central.

He said: “It is going to be like a new tournament in a new venue for the top eight so I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
