Nick Matthew will be bidding to defend his double Commonwealth gold medals after being named in England’s squad for next month’s Games.

The world number two, beaten in the British Open final by Gregory Gaultier last month, will take part in the singles and doubles events after being selected for this summer’s competition in Glasgow.

James Willstrop, Daryl Selby, Peter Barker and Adrian Grant have also made the cut.

Sheffield star Matthew, who took part in the Queen’s Baton relay last weekend, said: “I made sure that I tweaked my schedule so I am ready for the Games.”
