WORLD number two Nick Matthew booked his place in the semi-finals of the Canary Wharf Classic last night after a hard-fought four game win over Steve Coppinger.
Matthew, who trains at Sheffield Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club, defeated the South African 11-6, 11-4, 10-12, 11-3 to set up a last four meeting with England teammate Peter Barker tonight.
The top seed, closing in on a fourth successive Canary Wharf title, said: “Steve played very well and in the third game it just shows that you can never ease up.”
