Nick Matthew has vowed to regroup and come back stronger following his British Open disappointment.
The Sheffield star lost 11-3 11-6 11-2 to world number one Gregory Gaultier in Sunday’s final at Hull’s Sports Arena.
Matthew, who defeated Joe Lee, Daryl Selby, Fares Dessouki and Mohamed Elshorbagy en route to the final, said: “Sometimes you’ve got to hold your hands up and admit that the other guy was better on the day. Greg got off to a great start and that was key; he just carried it on.
“I’ve got a chance to have a rest now and regroup. That disappointment will spur me on during my summer training.”
