The event kicked off in style with a host of Olympic and Paralympic stars joining in the opening ceremony celebrations at the Motorpoint Arena.
12 sports will feature in the games which will run for the next three days at various venues around the city, including Ponds Forge, the English Institute of Sport and Don Valley Stadium.
