A new baby and Commonwealth Games gold – it hasn’t been a bad year for Sheffield squash hero Nick Matthew.
The Star dropped in on a special homecoming event for the 34-year-old at his Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club base to look back on a momentous 2014 so far and look ahead to the tournaments to come for the reigning world champion.
Matthew was the star attraction of A Night With Champions last month which raised thousands of pounds for Sheffield Childrens Hospital and towards the goal of bringing a squash event to the club later this year.
A special exhibition match took place between Matthew and current world number three Mohamed Elshorbagy while world champion Laura Massaro was also in action.
Matthew spoke with Star sports reporter Liam Hoden.
