Sheffield Hallam lost a titanic battle against Northumbria on Saturday in their Super 8 match at All Saints.
The first two sets - seeing the on-court debut of Joel Miller and Temesgen Samuel - were tight with Northumbria taking them 25-22 and 25-20. However, the third set proved to be thrilling- but Hallam ended up losing 33-31, despite saving four match points.
There was better news for Sheffield Women’s team who confirmed their place at the top of the National League Division North with a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Rockets (23-25, 27-25, 25-12, 25-17).
Coach Steve McKeown said: “The team needs greater consistency and stability in backcourt if we are to produce an even more potent offence.”
The men play at Warwick Riga on Saturday and the women are next in action against London Polonia in the Cup on November 2.
