World of Sport: Tom Daley takes bronze, Inbee Park wins Women’s British Open, new doping scandal for athletics

Tom Daley took his second medal of the World Aquatics Championships, with a men’s 10m platform bronze.

The British star last won an individual World Championship medal in 2009.

“I’m really happy with that bronze because I did make it as hard as possible for myself,” he said.

His other medal, a gold, came in the team event with Rebecca Gallantree.

Women’s golf world number one Inbee Park claimed her seventh major title by seeing off fellow South Korean Ko Jin-young to win the Women’s British Open at Turnberry.

The 27-year-old won by three shots and told BBC Sport: “It feels great, this is something I have been dreaming of all my life

“I finally reached my goal. It’s just a relief. I’m so happy with everything.”

Athletics has been hit with a fresh doping scandal.

The Sunday Times published data from 5,000 athletes, leaked by a whistleblower at the International Association of Athletics Federation.

It is claimed the data shows an ‘extraordinary extent of cheating.’
