A Yorkshire girl with acting talent have the chance to be crowned princess of the Lyceum this Christmas.
Sheffield Theatres, in partnership with Evolution Pantomimes, are looking for local girl to play the Princess in their pantomime, Aladdin, which will run at the Lyceum Theatre this Christmas.

Girls need to be 17 years or older and must be local fr
om Yorkshire. The Princess need not have any professional experience, but will have to be a talented actress, dancer and singer and bring a pre-prepared two minute song to sing on stage.

Last year rising Sheffield star Holly Johnson was chosen as the all singing all dancing star of Cinderella. Johnson battled it out against 120 other hopefuls, securing the break into show business that she had been waiting for.

Sheffield Theatres are hoping to find another talent at the auditions, which take place on Sunday October 26, 9.30 am, at the Lyceum.

"Sheffield is full of amazing talent," said Sheffield Theatres' Executive Producer Mark Feakins.

"We saw it last year when we did our 'Search for Cinders' and cast a local lass. We see it on our stages all the time with superb amateur productions once a year in the Lyceum and through our education and community work. So, this year we thought Princess Jasmine was the perfect role to go out and find some new talent for," he said.

The chosen girl for Aladdin will star in all 46 shows of the Christmas pantomime. She will play alongside an all star cast including Phil Daniels as the wicked 'Abanazar', Kevin Sacre as Aladdin and local legend Bobby Knutt who will play the Chinese Policeman.
