Sheffield Hallam University has won a prestigious national award for its student recruitment campaign.
The marketing department scooped silver at the national higher education marketing awards hosted by GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips in London this week.

The University was also named as the overall winner of the Students' Choice award for 2007 at th
e annual Heist awards. The judges said that Sheffield Hallam's award submission was the best of all 12 categories.

Director of Marketing Ivor Lawrence said: "It's a real coup for the University to pick up such a prestigious award, and in an area as competitive as best national student recruitment campaign.

"But, being put at top of the tree in the Students' Choice is a fantastic honour. It's a real testament that our customer focused marketing approach is really hitting the mark."

The aim of the recruitment campaign was to increase the numbers of students enrolled on courses in the Faculty of Organisation and Management. The subject areas include business management, accounting and finance, languages, tourism, hospitality, leisure, events and food and nutrition.

The marketing campaign delivered a 28 per cent growth in new full-time undergraduate enrolled numbers over a two-year period.
