16 million people in the UK suffer with high blood pressure.
At the Hallam Nutrition Fair 2008 Teresa Dibble, student at Sheffield Hallam University Center for Food, informed people on how to change their life style to reduce blood pressure.

"I'm concentrating on life style intervention as a way you can help reduce high blood pressure. So looking at things such as increasing your activity, reducing your salt intake," said Teresa

Recipes low in salt

Whole meal Bread

Ingredients

300g strong whole meal flour
150 g strong white flour
1 sachet (7g) Fast Action Bread Yeast
2 tablespoons of olive oil/ rapeseed oil
1/2 pint warm water

Method

Place the flours in a large bowl together with the yeast, olive oil and warm water
Mix dough, adding a little more water or flour as necessary
Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for 10-15 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Leave in a warm place until it has doubled in size (about 30 minutes)
Turn out dough: knead again for a few minutes
Lightly oil a 450g loaf tin or baking tray and shape dough to fit the tin or make an oblong shape and place it on the tray. Leave it for about 15 minutes.
Heat the oven to 220 degrees C or gas 7 and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped underneath.

Cool on a wire tray.
