It’s Now Or Never for Elvis fans who are about to get all shook up for Sheffield’s Women Of Steel, writes Graham Walker.
A tribute night to the King Of Rock And Roll is being held towards the £150,000 appeal for a statue to honour the women who kept the steel mills going int two world wars.
The Elvis night is at The Railway Hotel, Penistone Road, Wadsley Bridge, on Friday, January 10, 7.30pm.
It also celebrates the week that Elvis would have been 79.
Live music will be provided by the region’s Elvis tribute band, Steve Del Rio & the Deltas, with Elvis requests, quiz and raffle hosted by organiser Mike Lawton.
Admission is £2 on the door, with all proceeds going to the Women Of Steel Appeal.
The appeal total, now standing at £115,000, was given a £62,000 boost by The Star backed Women Of Steel all-star concert at Sheffield City Hall and also by the return of The Star Walk last year.
Elvis fan and Women Of Steel supporter Mike said: “Fifty of my family entered the Star Walk, including my mother, who was 89 last week and we contributed over 20 per cent of the funds raised for that event.
“ We would like to see the statue in place as soon as possible with a final push for the last £35,000.”
