GLAMOROUS it isn't - but that's precisely why Chesterfield FC's run-down Saltergate stadium has been chosen as a film location.
New movie Damned United follows the fortunes of a certain Brian Clough - football legend and all-round controversial guy.
The storyline starts during Clough's time at Derby County, and filming has been taking place at Saltergate.
Sheffield actor Stephen Nicholas, who plays the part of Derby player Alan Durban, explained: "Saltergate is one of the only grounds in the country that hasn't altered or been modernised at all.
"It's the same now as it was in the 1970s and, as such, is an ideal stand-in for the former Baseball Ground in Derby which of course is no more."
The film stars Michael Sheen as the legendary opinionated Clough, with Timothy Spall as his right-hand man Peter Taylor.
The film tells the story of Clough's doomed 44-day tenure as manager of the reigning champions of English football, Leeds United.
Taking the Leeds job without Taylor by his side, with a changing room full of previous manager Don Revie's boys, his reign as boss was always destined to be short-lived.
Stephen said: "It's been a fantastic experience working with so many well-known actors, particularly Michael Sheen. He has got Cloughy off to a tee. He makes you feel nervous to be around."
