A talented three-year-old from Sheffield is preparing to make her stage debut at the city’s Crucible Theatre this month.

Maisie Lake is one of the 100-plus cast from the June D Gill School of Theatre Dance, set to perform in the school’s upcoming production of Chitty.

Inspired by the music from hit musical film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the show promises to bring a mix of singing, acting and dancing to The Crucible’s stage on Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28.

Students at the school have spent months rehearsing for the show, in which 16-year-old Laura McMahon, who joined the school at the same age as Maisie, will take the female lead role of Truly.

June Gill, principal said: “We’re all really excited about Chitty.

“It’s full of dramatic musical routines and is absolutely ideal entertainment for all the family.

“We’d like to make it a full house for the children to show off their talents and hard work.”

June’s dance school, based on Caxton Road, Broomhill, has been established in the area for more than 45 years.

Tickets for Chitty are available from the Sheffield Theatres box office by calling 0114 249 6000.
