An exhibition by members of Sheffield’s longest running art club, Heeley Art Club, opens in the Winter Garden on Friday.
There will be 46 pictures by 21 artists on the theme of Sheffield in the Frame.
Visitors will be able to purchase any piece that catches their eye at prices from £40 upwards. Cards and small prints will also be for sale.
Having begun life at the end of the 19th century, Heeley Art club is now 40 artists strong.
After a modest start in Thirwell Road Wesleyan School, the club quickly moved to Meersbrook Vestry Hall and over the years the club has had various locations. A room in North Church Street was convenient for the local tramps’ hostel which provided models for a shilling a time.
The paintings on view in the exhibition will be in a range of media, including watercolour, oil and acrylic. Some artists will be painting in the Winter Garden during the run of Sheffield In The Frame from Friday until Sunday, October 13.
