Space to think about an inspiring new theme,
Congratulations to our winners of the ‘colour’ theme from last month. We had a great selection of entries from a talented bunch of snappers.
The Harrison team get to choose the winners but we were all really impressed with Michael Hardy’s image of the tram at night at Crich Tramway Museum. Michael will get a £25 voucher to spend. Our runner up, John Gorman, will get an 18x12 print for his ‘Fargate Sizzler’ shot.
I will really miss the colour theme but we now have a new theme for June - ‘space’. I am looking forward to seeing how you interpret this theme. It’s not just about the starry skies above us, or acres of corn fields that stretch as far as the eye can see. It can be your own sense of space that inspires you. Remember, the rules are that it has to be taken within our publication area, but you can enter as many times as you like. Images can be ones you have taken in the past like Michael did with his winning tram shot, or you can get yourself off to events or a walk around the city to seek inspiration.
This weekend there is a car show in the city centre and a history event at Manor Lodge, along with music and beer festivals. Check out our Telegraph listings guide and take your camera out.
Perfect chance to think outside the box bu Simon Grason
We’re at the end of another month and the end of another competition.
Once again we’ve had some really good entries and it’s been a tough job to pick one winner but we’ve managed to whittle it down to two extremely vibrant images from the victors.
Well done to the winner and to the runner-up.
For the next month we’ve got the theme of ‘space’ and it’ll be interesting to see how you all interpret the topic.
What does it mean? Outer space? Open space? Parking space?
I’ll let you decide, I’m hoping for some good variation in images this month.
This is a topic where you’re really going to have to think outside the box and be creative.
I’m thinking extreme wide-angle shots could be a good choice and remember to think about angles and composition.
If you’re thinking of going for some astronomical shots come and see us in-store to receive tips and advice about taking photographs of the night sky through a telescope.
Remember, we’ve got a £25 Harrison Cameras voucher for the winner and an 18x12” print on offer for the runner-up.
Now get out there and get snapping.
