A new £300,000 sculpture has been unveiled on a Chesterfield roundabout.
The artwork, called Growth, is a new feature on the Hornsbridge Island roundabout.
It was designed by Derbyshire-based artist Melanie Jackson and features a wheel, or cog, integrated into the landscape.
Chesterfield Council leader Coun John Burrows said: “After months of hard work from all the partners included in the project, our latest landmark is now completed and illuminated for all to see.
“It is a true feat of engineering and I’m proud that, for people entering the town centre from the M1 and by train, this will be the first thing they will see.”
Melanie, the artist who designed the sculpture, added: “I’m really pleased and proud of what we have achieved.”
The project has been funded by the European Regional Development Fund and by Barratt Homes, with the money part of a £500,000 investment.
