A sleep expert from Sheffield is to host a free workshop next month to help people struggling to catch their 40 winks.
According to Emma Corrigan, as many as a third of all adults struggle with problems sleeping as a result of anxiety and stress.
“Sleep is so important, and yet so many of us struggle at various points in our lives, whether it’s taking ages to get to sleep or feeling shattered all day and then laying awake all night,” said Emma, who has run Stepping Stones Hypnotherapy since 2011.
“I help people to understand the sleep cycle and how they can use it to help them, and offer practical hints and tips for a better night’s sleep.”
Emma, aged 28, says that, like so many things, problems with sleeping always seem worse when you don’t address them. But thinking of your bed as a place to relax, even if you’re not asleep, can help to reduce the anxiety associated with sleep,” she said.
“Try to keep your bedroom a technology-free zone and avoid computers and iPads for an hour before going to bed.”
Emma added: “I decided to offer this free workshop in Sheffield because lack of sleep can lead to so many other problems such as anxiety, low self confidence and relationship problems.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, March 8, from 10am to 11am at Wellforce, on Wilkinson Street, Broomhall.
