Take one Krispy Kreme donut, sandwich with beefburger and cheese… then tuck in!
Sounds bizarre, but it tastes amazing according to James Kaviani, who launched the treat at Sharrowvale market on Sunday – along with his new American burger company, Cowboys.
Sheffielder James, who worked in New York and LA for two years, was inspired by the current vogue for street food.
And his recipe for success is a trailer, which will tour local markets and events until a permanent site can be found.
James went to New York as a student and ended up working for chef Larry Forgione at his signature café.
For the last five years he has been planning his own burger company, experimenting with different cuts of beef, buns and cheeses.
Cowboys offers a simple menu of single, double or triple burgers made from 21-day-aged Hereford beef, in a locally-baked bun, topped with US-style processed cheese and James’ own-recipe sauce.
