Dan Holland is assistant bars manager at Owlerton Stadium, home of Sheffield’s largest restaurant, with 300 covers. He lives in Hillsborough with partner Teri – the couple plan to marry in October.

Yes I enjoy cooking a lot. I am currently taking part in Come Dine With Me-style evenings with my family.
Any cooking tips?
Cook what you like to eat and don’t be scared to experiment.
What’s your favourite dish?
Aa good hefty mix grill... but I do like a nice spaghetti Bolognese too.
And a drink to go with it?
I prefer a soft drink with my meal so I can enjoy my food.
Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?
I eat mainly at pubs and I particularly enjoy eating at the Yorkshire Bridge. It has good homemade meals.
The Hammer and Pincers at Ringinglow has great food at good prices.
What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
It was a carvery at a local tavern. It used to be really good but I was very disappointed in the taste and the meat was not a good cut.
The best meal you’ve ever had?
The best meal I’ve ever had was on holiday in Devon – steak and red ale pie with veg and new potatoes… mmm!
Your favourite TV cook?
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall – I love how he cooks the produce he grows.
Your opinion of Sheffield as a place to eat?
Sheffield has some good places if you’re willing to travel outside of your own area.
