Food news: Melted cheese supper clubs launched in Sheffield

Cheese lovers can rejoice - as two new supper clubs are coming to Sheffield this winter.

Homage to Fromage cheese club, which operates in the city and Leeds, running a six-month pop up cafe dedicated to cheese in the latter location last year, is behind the new events.

They will take place at the Depot Bakery in Kelham Island and be focused on melted cheese - with a main course such as fondue, raclette, tunworth or vacherin mont d’or.

Vickie Rogerson, from Homage2Fromage said: “We were overwhelmed by the popularity of our Homage2Fromage Cheese Cafe and although we knew people loved cheese, we didn’t realise quite how much.

“We always vowed to return with another pop-up dedicated to melted cheese, so we’re really excited about our supper clubs.”

The menu on December 9 and 10 will begin with a sharing platter of themed nibbles, such as Yorkshire rarebit bites, truffle macaronic cheese cupcakes, and blue cheese with pear tartlets. Wine and beers will be selected to complement the three courses, priced at £25 per person.

Nick Copland, also of Homage, added: “These nights are designed to be fun informal events for people to enjoy a complex, varied and exciting selection of cheese-inspired food.

“We know Leeds loves cheese but we extended these events to Sheffield after huge popular demand.

“We hope everyone loves them.”
