Sentinel Brewing Co, which launched less than six months ago, is off to a flying start, winning two three-star medals in the International Beer Awards.
The Shoreham Street brewery, founded by master brewer Alex Barlow, took honours for its American Red and Rhubarb Rosehip Gose, a limited edition collaboration with a Danish friend.
The honours were announced as Sentinel takes on three new staff to expand its operation in line with its growing reputation.
INN'S FRESH START
The Inn at Troway, formerly part of the Sheffield-based BrewKitchen group, has new owners and a new name. Now known as The Brook, it has been taken over by businessman Howard Chapell, who owned The Sidings in Dronfield and the Barlow Huntsman, and is being run by his son, James. Special features will include continental-style raclette, fondue and hot stone cooking, with barbecue and hog roasts in the summer.
THE CRICKET'S NEW MATCH
The Cricket Inn, another BrewKitchen enterprise, is also enjoying a fresh start with brothers Oli and Sam Parnell in charge of the kitchen. They have scaled back the menu to offer traditional pub fare with a focus on quality ingredients cooked well.
Cocina at Casa hotel has retained its title as Restaurant of the Year in the Chesterfield Food & Drink Awards, presented last week by celebrity baker Mich Turner. Other winners included Best Newcomer: The Lilypad café run by chef Iain Woodhead.
