Sheffield foodies are making a meal of this week’s Tour de France celebrations, with a range of activities taking place around the city...

* Cake bakers set the wheels of celebration in motion as they cooked up a cycling themed event last weekend.

Members of Sheffield’s Clandestine Cake Club teamed up with cycle café Amici & Bici in Abbeydale Road for an afternoon of sweet delight on the theme Ooh La La Le Grand Depart!

* Nonnas’ La Squadra Cycling Emporium (formerly the Street Food Cycle Caffè) in Hickmott Road, has found itself in the national spotlight as a sought-after location for cycle-related filming.

Rider Ben Swift of Team Sky used the venue on Monday for an interview about nutrition and on Wednesday it was used by Sky Sports for an interview with L’Eroica Britannia organiser Gian Bohan.

On Sunday Nonnas is hosting Le Tour pasta party, with all dishes at £5.95.

* A French-themed market will take over Fargate from Thursday to Sunday. Stallholders will include Designed2Eat, which has launched a new range of nutritious snacks to mark the occasion.

* Owlerton Greyhound Stadium is holding a French Friday, with a themed restaurant menu and staff donning French outfits for the day. Proceeds will be donated to St Wilfrid’s Centre, a charity that supports some of the city’s homeless and vulnerable people. MD John Gilburn said: “This is one of the biggest sporting occasions our city has ever seen, so we had to do something fitting to celebrate.”
