The competition takes place on Sunday and has four categories: for Victoria sponge, strawberry jam, bread and a new children’s contest for decorated cupcakes.

Each entry costs £1, with proceeds donated to the group’s 2014 charity, the Young Women’s Housing Project.

All entries should be taken to the WI’s stall in the old Woolworth’s store on The Moor between 10am and 11.30am on Sunday.

Judging will take place during the afternoon and results will be announced at 3.35pm.

Meanwhile, less able bakers can take advantage of the WI’s talents at their stall throughout the weekend, with homemade cakes, biscuits and buns on sale from 10am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

President Lindsay Garfitt said: “We’re delighted to be back at Sheffield Food Festival for the fourth year running and are hoping to be inundated with visitors to our stall and entries to the Best in Show competition!

“We made over £1,000 for charity last year and hope to raise lots again this year to help local women who have been victims of domestic and sexual abuse and violence.”
