As we go to press, our latest winemaker to visit the Sheffield Telegraph area is on his way over here from South Africa.
Clayton Reabow, head wine-maker of the Moreson estate in Franschoek, is winging his way here to spend a few days showing his wines with the team at Barrels and Bottles and some of their customers, restaurants, football clubs and hotels in the region.
His wines have been making waves in the industry with small exclusive parcels of great juice being made into food-friendly yet full-bodied styles.
One of my personal favourites is the Moreson Estate Pinotage, stunningly full bodied! It is a rich and deliciously heavy red wine. Characterised by plum, black cherry and mocha flavours, it is tasty enough to be a meal on its own. It is also considered one of the Top 10 Pinotage’s in South Africa. You can expect a bold-on-fruit wine with well-integrated plum and oak tannins.
The Moreson Pinotage is smooth and elegant on the palate with a slight mocha bouquet.
Colour: A deep inky purple. Aroma: Red fruit with a plum infusion. Palate: A smooth, elegant and velvety palate – well-rounded mouth feel with rich, dark fruit elements.
The wine retails at £14.25 per bottle but to Sheffield Telegraph Readers there is a special price of £10.95.
To order, go on to the website, www.barrelsandbottles.co.uk, and use the code NEWS195 when paying.
Don’t forget delivery, even of a single bottle, is free in Sheffield and the surrounding area.
To take the experience one step further, why not join Clayton at Barrels and Bottles on Tuesday May 31 for a tasting dinner and wine tasting, a superb evening of great wines and great food at our cellars in Sheepbridge.
Clayton will also be appearing at the Devonshire Arms Middle Handley on Wednesday June 1. Call 01246 453399 for orders or more information.
