Members of Sheffield choir Chorus recorded their contribution to the BBC Proms Mary Poppins ‘Virtual Choir’ project on the steps of the city Hall.

The South Yorkshire singers are hoping to feature in a ‘collage of voices’ at this year’s Last Night of the Proms event on Saturday, September 13.

The initiative marks 50 years since the release of the Disney film of the same name.

The choir is seeking new members and South Yorkshire folk who enjoy singing can go along and have a go at City Hall Memorial Hall from 11am on Saturday, September 6.

Chorus musical director Andy Booth said: “We never ask people to sing on their own and the workshops are great fun.
“You’ll meet some lovely people and learn a little bit along the way. There’s no obligation to join the choir, but having experienced singing with us must people can’t resist.”

Anyone over 18 can attend the free workshop.

No auditions are required and reading music isn’t essential.

Participants will be able to see a video of their choral singing experience online after the event.
