They will be having a rootin’, tootin’ shootin’ good time in Grenoside this weekend when a Summer Musical Spectacular celebrates songs from Calamity Jane and more.
Jackie Willis has masterminded the show. She first put one on when her daughter was Grenoside Gala Queen in 2006.
She did another show later that year, then was persuaded to carry on.
Jackie said: “We are putting on the shows to raise funds for the Community Centre on Main Street, Grenoside. The centre is a registered charity and doesn’t receive any council funding.
“There are plenty of acts to cater for all musical tastes, from musical films and shows from yesteryear right up to the present day. The show will also include several comedy scenes parodying well-known songs.”
Jackie added: “We have a great team who have helped put the shows together and we expect to once again put on a fantastic show.”
Jackie is working once again with fellow members of Grenoside Pantomime Group.
She said: “I’ve also been involved with the pantomime group for years. When I asked members to appear in this show, they all said yes.”
As well as Calamity Jane hits such as Deadwoood Stage and A Woman’s Touch , the cast will be singing favourite songs from The Sound of Music and other shows and the Three Little Maids from The Mikado.
The shows takes place tomorrow and Saturday at 7.15pm and there is also a Saturday matinee at 1.45pm. For tickets, call Carolyn Young on 2468937.
