AMERICAN singer and musical chameleon Cyndi Lauper comes to Sheffield City Hall on Friday, June 24 as part of her Memphis Blues world tour.

She has already appeared in America, Canada, South America and Japan with her blues-focused live show which includes several of the legendary musicians featured on the album including Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica, Steve Potts on drums, Archie “Hubbie” Turner on keys and Charles “Skip” Pitts on guitar.

Lauper also performs many of the hits that made her famous.

It’s another string to the bow of the artist who is renowned for her idiosyncracies, which have included custard-yellow hair, caked-on make up and high-pitched pop.

She is probably best known for her 1984 smash hit, Girls Just Want to Have Fun.

The Memphis Blues album features appearances by a veritable dream team of blues and soul greats, including harmonica master Charlie Musselwhite, vocalist Ann “I Can’t Stand the Rain” Peebles, New Oreans organist Allen Toussaint and guitar heroes Jonny Lang and B.B. King, and is a change of direction from her 2008 album, the dance-oriented, Grammy-nominated Bring Ya to the Brink.
