THE Webb Sisters come to Sheffield next week with a glowing reference from Leonard Cohen.

As far as the great man is concerned, Charley and Hattie are “sublime”.

He can be heard introducing them as they sing a live version of one of his songs, If It Be Your Will, which is on their latest album, Savages.

The Webb Sisters joined him on his first tour in 15 years, and they have also toured with Jamie Cullum, Rufus Wainwright, James Morrison, and Katie Melua. Their new album is produced by Peter Asher. And if that’s not enough, they represented the UK at America’s 400th Anniversary celebrations, so they clearly have acquaintances in high places.

Born into a family of musicians in Kent, the duo play guitar, harp and mandolin and impress with their gentle harmonies.

They will be at The Greystones in Greystones Road on Tuesday when the support will be Al Lewis, a young singer-songwriter from North Wales.

Leonard Cohen is not expected.
