Big band sensation Paul Pashley is swinging into action to help raise money for a £150,000 Women Of Steel statue in Sheffield, writes Graham Walker.
He’s joined the bill for The Star backed star-studded Women Of Steel Concert at Sheffield City Hall on Saturday, November 9.
The Sheffield singer has recorded new swing numbers written by Gary Barlow, Bryan Adams and Sheffield’s own song king Eliot Kennedy.
His repertoire includes classic Rat Pack standards and a swing twist on modern pop hits.

Paul will perform on the main show before headlining the after-show party – with support from nine-piece funk-soul band The Tempertons and the Classic Calypso band.
Those with tickets for the main concert can now also buy £10 after-show party tickets to rub shoulders with the stars in the City Hall’s ballroom from 11pm to 1am.
Heaven 17, ABC’s Martin Fry, Tony Christie, Baby Bird, John Shuttleworth, John Reilly, Philippa Hanna, Nat Johnson and Ray Hearne will perform on the main stage.
There will also be guest appearances by Reverend and the Makers’ front man Jon McClure, Dean Andrews, from hit TV shows Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, BBC Ancient Egypt presenter Joann Fletcher and more.
Proceeds will go to the Women of Steel Appeal for a statue in Barker’s Pool, honouring the Sheffield women who kept the steelworks running while their men went off to fight in both World Wars.
* Tickets for the concert are £20 and £22, subject to a booking fee. Buy in person, call the Box Office on 0114 2789789 or visit Sheffield City Hall More at Women of Steel the Concert and on twitter at @WomenSteelShow. Support the appeal with a donation to Just Giving Women of Steel.
