TAKE That, Bryan Adams, Boyzone, The Spice Girls, Aretha Franklin and Celine Dion all have Eliot Kennedy to thank for some of their biggest hits.
Sheffield’s own Grammy and Ivor Novello Award winner is the songwriter and record producer who gave us Everything Changes, Picture Of You, Say You’ll Be There and many, many more.
But he’s also a great story teller.
And the funky bass player, who can also sing, will perform his songs and tell the stories behind two decades of chart-topping pop classics at Sheffield City Hall Memorial Hall, on Thursday, September 29, from 7.30pm.
The Star is giving one lucky reader the chance to win a pair of tickets and meet him.
You never know who else you might meet, as he’s inviting some of his celebrity friends to join him for this intimate acoustic set - including X Factor stars Andy Abraham and The Reason 4, My One Temptation soul queen Mica Paris, swing sensation Paul Pashley, singer songwriter Philippa Hanna and his latest find, Katy Bullock.
This is his latest One Song Foundation charity event - an innovative fundraiser to harness the power of music and support local, national and international projects, to help disadvantaged, the excluded and the isolated.
Eliot, whose songwriting partners include Take That’s Gary Barlow and his rock superstar pal Bryan Adams, wrote Everything Changes for Take That, won an Ivor Novello Award for Boyzone smash Picture Of You and picked up a Grammy for Never Gonna Break My Faith, written and produced for Aretha Frankiln and Mary J Blige, for the film Bobby. He produced the Spice Girls’ first album, Spice, which sold 23 million copies.
The lucky fella also tells how the girls moved into his house as he helped to turn them into a global phenomenon.
He later teamed up Mel C with Bryan Adams on rock anthem When You’re Gone. Other hits with Adams include Back To You.
