Coronation Street’s Natalie Gumede isn’t expecting to be sitting pretty as queen of the dance floor when Strictly Come Dancing Live waltzes in to Sheffield next month, writes Graham Walker.
The once favourite to scoop the TV glitterball trophy was in the bottom two last week and feels she is most likely to be first out in this weekend’s final, she told The Star.
The 29-year-old had perfect 10 scores with dance partner Artem Chigvintsev, pictured, but she believes some fans still judge her as jailed fiance-beater Kirsty Soames, the role she plays in Corrie.
“Kirsty made a real impression. I’ve had feedback that people are still struggling to see the difference,” she said.
She’s not ruled out a return to Corrie - but not for now. She wants to transform her bad girl stereotype with a comedy role next year, she said.
BBC news presenter Susanna Reid is now favourite to win Strictly with odds at 11/10. Model Abbey Clancy is closing at 5/2 and singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor at 10/3, leaving Natalie fourth at 8/1.
The Strictly Come Dancing grand final is on BBC One tonight (Saturday, December 21, 2013) from 6.30pm.
