A man who was put in charge of growing 300 cannabis plants at a converted Sheffield house has been jailed for more than two years.

Aleks Gjera, aged 24, was arrested at the property on Sheffield Road, Tinsley, following a dawn raid in the early hours of October 3, where he was employed to stay and act as a ‘gardener’ for the drugs operation. Inside, officers found a crop of 300 plants, weighing a total of 21kg with an estimated street value of £207,900.

He later pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court to cultivating cannabis and he was jailed for 28 months on October 26. Gjera, of Sheffield Road, Tinsley, was also ordered by the court to surrender both cash and drugs which had been made from the crops.
