The M1 is closed in both directions this morning following a serious collision near to Meadowhall.

A full closure is in place between junctions 34 and 35 – between Tinsley and Thorpe Hesley – while emergency services deal with the collision.

A number of fire engines, police cars and ambulances are at the scene.

An air ambulance has also landed.

No details have been released by South Yorkshire Police other than emergency services are dealing with a serious collision.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
